I am a beginner with Backup exec.

I work in a administration, and we just acquired licences for BU exec 9.1.

We have 1 SQL server on one machine, Microsoft Exchange on an another machine, on the same domain.
I want to use a third machine which will be used only to make back-ups, equiped with big HD and tape drive.

We have the licence for BU exec, with SQL agent and MS-exchange agent.
But I can't see my servers on the domain. What have I forgotten ? Do I need another agent/program ?

Thanks for helping

You need the Remote Agent license for each remote server.

BTW-I advocate very loudly to NOT use the Agent for SQL Server. Do 'native' SQL Server backups (use the SQL Server BACKUP DATABASE commands) to backup the database(s) to disk. Then use Backup Exec to 'copy' the backup files to tape.

If you decide to use the SQl agent you will need the Exchange and SQl agent option only which include a remote agent.

Does the Backup server have a domain account for the services?
