I am new to configuring Windows server 2003 and I have the following situation.

Cable Modem -> Wired Router -> Workgroup network.

I would like to convert to a domain network with Server 2003.

Questions:
1. Should I keep the Linksys Router as the DHCP Client or should I have the Domain Controller do the DHCP?

2. And if I were to let the Router stay as the DHCP server, should I assign the Domain controller a local static IP?

Thanks so much in advance!

Have the server been the DHCP server.

So then the server must have a static IP, yes? Such as one from dyndns for example?

Thanks

The server will have a static Private IP, such as 192.168.1.2. The router will have two static IPs, such as 192.168.1.1 and what ever IP you get from your ISP (this can be static or dynamic).
