Found this folder in my C: directory, CONFIG.MSI and never noticed it before. Opened it and WOW, 6,396 files taking up 190MB. All the files end with .rbf which I found to be Roll Back Files. They have dates from 6/24/03 all the way back to 12/03.96.

I believe these are records of what has been installed on the computer and opening the latest 6/24/06 in Notepad, I can see info where I reinstalled Office 2000.

But I bought this laptop 3 years ago and where the heck did the 12/03/96 file come from.

All said and done, can these be deleted with no problem?

Can I at least delete say all but the last years files?

Would like to get back that 190MB of what looks like wasted space.

Thanks,

Richard in Tulsa, OK

"In the event that you experience problems with your installation, these files allow you to uninstall Office 2000 and go back to your previous version of Office."

If you're confident in/happy with your current install, you can pretty safely blow it away, making cd-backup beforehand, if you want ot be cautious.

Thanks for the quick response.

So if the only thing I'd be worried about is the uninstall of Office 200, then I could delete the other 6,395 files and keep the one that has the Office 200 info.

I'll probably take your suggestion and copy the file to a CD just in case.

Thanks,

Richard
