In a split database scenario (multiple identical Access front-ends linked to one Access back-end) how many concurrent users can there by in a 'typical' scenario? Does Access 97 vary from 2000 in this regard? Also, in the main table (perhaps a SKU table) how many records before Access encounters problems? I know results will vary from database to database but am looking for real-world experiences.

We have 20-30 users doing moderate to heavy data entry in a few of our databases and I would describe the performance as tolerable. The back end gets corrupt once every couple of weeks. Most people will tell you that this is about the limit for the number of users you can expect to get into a database. We have one table that is pushing 200,000 records, but I believe Access can handle much more than that.

I concur with Rohdem. We also have a similar situation in practice with similar corruption issues.
