I just got a new ECS K7VZA Mobo and a 1.4 AMD T.Bird. When I plugg in my cpu fan to the mobo and it doesn't turn on so my computer shuts down after I start it up. When I use an adapter, the cpu fan goes on but my computer still shuts off when i turn it on. It makes these funny beeps. Anyone know what is wrong? Is it a mobo problem?

Post back with the beep count into another thread with the BIOS software writer and you'll get better help. headline it with xxx bios error code help xx beeps.
MB, power, memory, or video problem. You could also unplug everything except power, video, and keyboard to see if it changes. Ed Fair

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply.

Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.

Hi I recently had same problem
Is you heatsink and fan powered from the case power supply?
Are you getting 4/5 beeps then off?
If your fan is powered from the casing, thats the problem.
The K7VZA has to detect a fan and this is done by the fan being powered from the motherboard itself!!

I bought new fan that connected to motherboard....problem solved

Hope this helps

I wish that was the problem. My Cpu Fan already connects to the motherboard. Even when the cpu fan is connected to the motherboard, it doesn't turn on. So is that a mobo problem?

Disconnect and remove EVERYTHING from the mobo except the PSU connector, the front panel power-on switch connector and the front panel power-on l.e.d. connector. This means NO CARDS PLUGGED IN, AND NO DRIVES CONNECTED. Insert the processor ensuring it is plugged in correctly and that you have not inadvertantly bent over any of the pins. Insert the memory module - check it's seated correctly. Check that the CPU fan connection is the correct way round. Not familiar with the mobo you have but check any jumpers/dip switches etc., are correctly assigned for your proc and memory. Do NOT connect or plug in any cards, drives etc., at this stage.

Now, does the front panel l.e.d. come on when you power it up? Does the CPU fan run? If you have one available you could check for the presence of +12vdc at the CPU fan connector. Looking down on this connector with the 3 pins running left to right and the plug locator on top, the +12vdc pin is in the middle and the negative is to the right. If this still doesn't work, then either the PSU supply to the mobo is faulty, or the mobo itself isn't working properly.

Hope that helps...
