Am running Vista Home Premium on my computer, the unit won't shut down and freezes at 'shutting down' I have to manually shut it off, did a virus and ad-aware checks and all is clean. Any suggestions, Thx. Nick

Any unknown devices in the device manager?

Simon

The real world is not about exam scores, it's about ability.

USB problems have been known to cause this in XP.
Do you leave any devices plugged in when you shut down?

I remember this happening on older OS's if there was a corrupt sound file. Try turning OFF your sound scheme and see if the problem goes away. :)

Thank You Guys for your feedbacks;

SimonDavies > No unknown devices in DM.
sggaunt > The only device in USB is the wireless mouse.
linney > Have cleaned out a lot of progs through configsys, but not much difference, will try your link.
gbaughma > Tried that also but no difference.

Linney > Yes the Shutdown from Safe Mode works fine, I have a strong feeling that it has something to do with my networking with other computer; am in the process of trouble shooting the network and will post as soon as I find the culprit, Thx. Nick

Hi all; desperation led me to remove the Norton Security which came preinstalled with my computer and instead switched to my ISP security, now all works fine, the computer shuts down normally also the computer runs much faster.
Linney > Checked device drivers and all seemed okay, thx anyways, take care.
