I purchased a barebone from Fry's, a 900MHz AMD Athlon. I installed an ATA barracuda HD along with a old SCSI drive and a old IDE Bigfoot drive. I'm using a memory chip of 256MB.

Sometimes when I run this recording software from Audio Logic the computer sporadically restarts out of the blue.

Any ideas anybody?

Paul

This is running Windows 98 2nd edition.

firstly try removing all cards from the system, except graphics card.

Put each one back in one at a time, see if that helps.

secondly, You could try updating the ASPI drivers.

Also check the heatsink on the CPU is secure and that the fan is working.

You could also try swapping the memory over.

Let us know how you get on.

Yes, bad CPU fan could cause the PC to restart. I had that problem before.
