I have an old pentium 1 system and i am trying to get my canon bjc-240 to print. I receive the error "there was an error writing to LPT1: for the printer (canon bjc-240)". the computer has 16MB ram and has windows 95 ver B. I have gone through the bios to enable ECP-EPP. I have also tryed different IRQ's for the printer. I have also used the updated printer drivers. I have also tryed two different printer cables and made sure they were IEEE1284 compliant. I have also tryed a different printer on the computer with no success. im outa options. what do you think?

If your printer requires bidirectional communication in order for its driver software to work properly, you will need to make sure the parallel port is set to enable bidirectional mode. This usually means setting the port to bidirectional or EPP mode.
Check the external connections to make sure they are not loose. Check the cables running from the port to the motherboard headers to make sure they are tight as well.
