Hi Guys,
I was reviewing some security logs and i noticed that user name was being displayed as computername$. Does anyone know what this means?

Thanks in advance

In an NT/2000 domain each Machine has an account like each user has, these accounts 'sAMAccountName' are represented as the machine name plus '$'. I think it has to do with they are hidden when you display user accounts with the management tools?

You have probably enabled auditing and are seeing stuff like 'User Name: COMPUTER2$' etc, this is normal.

Yep, Andy's got it. All computers have a hidden account in the domain, computername$
