I did not down the computer on my home computer running windows xp home edition. I was able to restore windows xp but I had to enter a computer name and I did not know what it was previously. I cannot get to my files under documents and settings. It's telling me access denied. The only files I can see are the ones that's on the C: or that was shared. I was the administrator and did not share my files. Is it anyway I can find out what the computer name was before computer when down.

it has nothing to do with the computername, you just have to take over the files/folders.
you need to logon with admin priviliges, mark the folder you want to access and in secruity tab/advanced? take over files/folders (can´t tell you exactly the names, i´m german. just have a look then you´ll find it)

Lemon13 means take ownership. Advanced button after security tab - then owner tab.
