We have our computer names setup so that they match the user name. A while ago a user left the company, and I changed the name of the computer to the name of the new user. The problem now is that even though the computer's name is correct in Network Properties, the "NET CONFIG" command responds with the old computer name. This had not happened before, or with any other computer since then, is there something else I have to do to get the server to take this new name? Thanks.

if your stations are windows nt workstations or win 2K pro, then you do have to re-join the computers with the new names. plus it is also a good practice to delete the old computer names.

All our workstations are Win98 we use DHCP manager to assign IP's

since those are win98 clients, try to remove and reinstall network components.
