I was wondering if anyone can give me some advise?
I had some issues with the PC running slow for a few weeks and the otherday i switched it on and it literally went bang! i was going out so i didnt have time to do much investigation, so simply unplugged all the cables from the back and left it. When i switched it back on the BIOS m-akes two beeps to tell me there is a problem with the memory. The RAM was replaced about 7 months ago, and as far as i am aware the old memory was left in the PC.

When i start up my machine it wont boot up it displays a message telling me something like thee is no memory in Drive 0.... before i spend alot of money trying to sort the problem out i was hoping someone could tell me exactly what the problem is.

Thanks
Sarah

To go bang, something has to explode. So it is likely that something overheated or shorted and since memory is now the thing getting flagged I would suspect that something in one of the memory banks blew. But depending on what type of system it could be in the memory accessing circuits.
There are also capacitors on the M/B and occasionally one of them will partially short and heat up enough to bang, too.
You may want to do a google search for "capacitors bulging" and see if your M/B is one that used the defective ones. If so, you probably would be better off making plans to replace the M/B.

Hi there,

Unplug the AC cables and remove the main board battery for 10 minutes then plug it again and try.

Good luck

Hi,

If the noise was from the memory, you should be able to see the result by removing it and looking closely. If the old memory is still installed you can remove the new and see if the system starts. Then try removing the old memory leaving the new installed.
Look here for memory install help,

If this does not work, tell us who made you computer and it's model number.
