I have an IBM tower with 2 HD's.
This morning I reformatted it re-installing XPP. Before using fdsik and reformatting the HD I disconected the 2nd HD to prevent accidental loss. Once I finished the install I reconnected the 2nd HD but when it is connected the computer hangs on startup before getting to the Windows logo. The BIOS is set to start from HDD 0 which is where XPP is. The 2nd HDD is set as a slave and used for storage only and contains no OS. If I disconnect the 2nd HD the computer starts normally.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

rvnguy: Thanks, The cable was correct. "write "zeros' to this drive..." this seems to have done it (although I can't imagine why). The drive, 30GB Hitachi Deskstar, isn't that old (2003).
As to the drive letter configuration, C, D, E and F are on the master, G and H are on board DVD and CD/RW drives and I and J where the second drive. Data was the label I gave to my storage partition on the master.

Now, does anyone know about installing a printer over a network?

drtom,

Hey, Thanks alot for posting posting back with your success. This assists the community that might view this.

Your explanation in the last post straightens out my confusion. The posts can get that way.

Glad you are back in business.
