compressing tape

Hmmmm, help me to understand where abouts you may need this option other than for a specific job? Also, why are you choosing not to use the hardware compression?

Hardware compression can be handled in the device screen, just click on your tape drive and select compression on. Also, if it is an old tape drive, then ARCserve may not be able to. In this case you may need some jumper settings to play with on the physical drive ..
