Hello,

Scenerio A: I'm designing a 24 page (A4) Saddled stitched magazine. I want to have an additional fold in on the centre spread (12 & 13) so on page 13 I'm having an extra sheet to fold over on top of it. Essentially making it a 26 pg document. SO, do I add an extra page to the right of 13 in my Quark doc layout? Or do I create a separate file entirely to accommodate that?

Scenerio B: Presentation folder with say 4 extra pages inside it. Do I create 2 separate documents? One which has the die cuts and folds manually drawn on an extra big sheet size, and the 4 inner pages as another simple basic quark file? Normally I would use Illustrator for a presentation folder if it had no extra pages in it as I find I have more drawing control & accuracy, but having to do a piece with extra pages throws me off.

Curious to hear how other designers would handle this.

Thanks,
Jen

It's all down to your printer, really. Personally, I would create the extra page to the right of page 13 in scenario A, because it shows what you're intending to do. In scenario B, I would create two files, because the cover will almost certainly be printed as a separate job due to it's size, etc.

However, talk to your printer, because they may have a different idea. It's also polite to forewarn them of potentially complex jobs.
