Hi people

Can someone please help me. I have just downloaded an eval version of CFusion. I am trying to work out where to start with the databases. I cant seem toconnect toany server to get hold of any databases.

Can someone please help me. What is the sevrer, is it my local machine, the office server or something completely different?

Then waht do I do, I want to pull back recrodsets and display on pages according to criteria.

I know this a big wuestion but someone please help me!!

Hi, NevG! I started where you are now about 8 months ago. As I recall, the evaluation version had a fairly decent tutorial with it.

Anyway, to try and answer you questions, your server can be your local machine or any other server. I use my local machine for development, and I have a production server. You need to have some kind of web server installed on the machine you want to install Cold Fusion on. I happen to be using Personal Web Server on my machine, which I downloaded for free, but you can use any other server software you may have. Then, you will need to go into the Cold Fusion Administrator to map to your database.

Once you get Cold Fusion up and running, check out the documentation. There are Cold Fusion tags to query a database and output the results, as well as a lot of other things. When you get more specific questions, let us know. You came to the right place. There are plenty of nice people in this forum who are much more knowledgeable than I am, but I hope I was able to get you started. Calista :-X
