compile icon greyed out

Using borland C++ 5.02 and compiled a code. Then clicked Resume(I think) instead of OK. Compile icon is greyed out after this. When I click the greyed out compile icon the Environment Options box appears. Under the 'Topics' heading 'Customize' is selected. Under 'Available Buttons:' 'Browse Edit Source' is selected, under 'Active Buttons:' 'File Open' is selected. Clicked the run icon and message appears saying 'Can't debug during asynchronous compile'. When I try to close the application by clicking x at top right corner or file, exit, nothing happens ie, application can't close. Need help to restore my compile icon and to be able to compile codes.

Shut down computer and rebooted. opened application and compile icon is back. I can now compile.
