Hi,

I have the following problem with Outlook: I have a network with one PC with Windows XP (Outlook XP) communicating to a Windows 98 station using outlook 97 and in the properties of the message at the XP end I am getting:

Boundary_(ID.....)
Content-type: application/vnd.ms-excel
name="=?iso-8859-1?q?Calculs_=Epaisseur_Mont-Royal.xls
etc…

and at the receiving end, this gets changed to:

Boundary ….
Content-type: application/ms-tnefd;
name=winmail.dat
etc…

The file extension and its name changes and therefore is not usable.

Anyone has a tip on where I could find something on that?

Thanks!

A winmail.dat attachment is usually received when the recieving computer can not correctly interpret Outlook's Rich Text Format. I would expect Outlook 97 to have this problem but maybe. For mail clients other than Outlook, this is a fairly common problem. Have the sender (Outlook XP) change the outgoing mail format to HTML or Plain Text instead of RTF.

Hi and thanks, you are correct, after an exhaustive search I was able to debug this issue, this is what was going on. Thank you for your help!
Cheers!
Marcel
