Does anybody have any thoughts of which database engine to use between Pervasive SQL and Microsoft SQL server????

We are evaluating an accounting package that offers both and need to get some input on this.

Thanks

Can't say one PRODUCT is 'better' than the other, without a LOT of details on the intended use.

I CAN say that you can easily see the varriation in support. ONE place you can see this is to just join the two forums here in Tek-Tips and relate the activity levels. I tried to both use Pervasive and get support from them and here. Neither was up to the level of capability I needed (or expected). MS has (IMHO) more free support than the other company has in the most expensive package.

You do need to look into the specifics of your target apps, and make your decision on the basis of MANY factors. My 'vote' not withstanding.

One of my customers uses an accounting package based on Pervasive and has had no end of trouble. They have had problems with speed, running over citrix, support, making pervasive live with other software.
Not saying that this could all be fixed by using xyz database, just saying. Peter Meachem
