Has anyone come across a reason to ever use the CompareValidator to check for a string type? I'm not quite sure where I'd run into an issue where a control I am validating wouldn't be a string type (in a TextBox for example).

Hi,

The comparevalidator provides a very efficient way to check for date formats, you set the type prop to date and operator = DataTypeCheck.

Right, but what the heck is up with ValidationDataType.String? I can't figure out where the validation would ever fail when using, say, a TextBox.
