Compare and Merge Feature in Word 2002

I need to merge changes from two reviewers into one document, using Word 2002 on Windows XP. I choose the Compare and Merge tool while in the first document. I choose the second document and press Merge. Error message box pops up saying "Word was Unable to Compare the Documents". I press "OK", then the second document pops up with the changes merged in. It seems to actually work, but the error message is confusing. Any ideas?

Hi,
If it's doing the task anyway, maybe you could just try running the Detect and Repair tool on the Help menu. It may restore whatever is missing.
