Hello,
The machine will not power up. Is the power supply
controlled from the motherboard or is this clearly a
power supply problem ? I want to be certain I am
spending my money in the right place.
Motherboard is what tells the power supply to turn on however just because its not turning on you cant know for sure which it is from just that. Ive seen switches on machines go bad. My advice open it up, disconnect the wires that are running to the power switch, take a flathead screw driver and touch those 2 terminals that are labled power on the board. If it turns on then the switch was bad.
If it doesnt, get you a power supply tester and test the power supply. If it shows good then my guess is your motherboard is bad.
Also make sure on the back of the power supply is it set to the right voltage. 110 for us, 220 for uk and other places.
Also make sure surge protector your using is good. Check the power cable itself.

ah the other is the hard drive leds, thats not the power for the computer. The one you want is the pwr above the reset. Those are the 2 that turns it on.

Thanks again for the prompt response.
I crossed the top two posts that match
wires going to the switch. No dice. It
would appear then the power supply is
shot, correct ?
