I had a STOP error occur on one of my Compaq Evo desktops, the error code was STOP 0x0000007A, address BFFC37E4 at BFFBB000, error file fdisk.sys.

Here is the problem, after rebooting the computer diplays BIOS setup options at the bottom of the screen but the rest of the screen is blank. There is no memory count, no processor information, nothing. All this is accompanied by two long beeps.

I did quite a bit of research online as to what two long beeps signify but I was not able to match this to any standard BIOS codes. I begin to thing the processor is fried and I would appreciate any suggestions.

Actually, the error file was ftdisk.sys.
Thanks

remove the RAM and use only one (if possible). If it works, remove and replace with other RAM chips and see if they work. What type of BIOS does it have? Award, AMI, other?

It was a hard drive failure, just a really strange one, the symptoms were pointing to something far more serious indeed.
