Compaq n400c Laptop Keyboard - Shift does not work all the time?

Hi all,

This is a strange one.

I have a Compaq n400c laptop. The shift, ctrl, and alt keys do not work for around 10 mins after booting into the OS. They then randomly start working. This is the same in Windows XP and Linux Ubuntu so does not appear to be software related.

Any ideas what I can do to overcome this issue?

The keyboard is easily replaceable:

Disassembly & replacement is a breeze.
