Hi,
I have set up the CIM for OpenView integration but it only works when ovw is started by the root user (if started by any other ID, you can't see the compaq symbols, and the web-enabled icons won't run).

Has anyone set this up to work when ovw is run by a non-root user?

Thanks.

did you install it as root? It seems like a permissions problem. What are the permissions for the executable?

interesting, is the integration a Compaq or HP product? (yes, I know they're the same company now, but they still have separate product lists for the moment) Mike

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, I installed the integration as root, as advised in the install instructions.

These are the permissions on my ovw;

-r-xr-xr-x 1 bin bin ovw

Some of the permissions on the symbols in $OV_BITMAPS, (parts of the integration) are like this;

-rw------- 1 root sys

I wonder if this means anything..??

The CIM for OpenView integration software is from Compaq.

Maybe you need to install CIM components on the client workstations. Maybe when the users click on the web-enabled icon, it is looking at the local workstation and not the server hosting NNM??
