I have a Compaq Proliant 3000 running NT4 that's been running fine for quite awhile. Sometimes over the holiday break it seems to have rebooted or been rebooted (or one of the other sysadmins won't fess up to doing it!). The LED display hangs at "PCI Auto CFG." and goes no further, I've got no video at all throughout the entire process, no Compaq splash screen, no memory count etc. The HDD's spin up and then the system just sits.

I've verified that the cards/processor/memory are seated but nothing. I've removed all the PCI cards (NIC/3200RAID), but nothing. I'm currently looking for a PCI video adapter to see if the onboard one has died. If I can find another card soon, will the server recognize it? How will I disable the onboard vid with it 'hanging'. Any ideas appreciated.

Hi all, Just an update on the non posting server. Seems the onboard Video died, causing the server to not want to finish the PCI detection phase of booting up.

I'd tried another video card, but the server would still not boot. When I'd tried re-seating all the cards/daughter boards earlier, I noted a block of dip switches near the front right corner. Upon closer inspection one was for 'vid'. I switched it to off, and again tried the replacment PCI video card. The server is back up and running now. I'll get the correct video driver in at a later date.
