compacting and compiling

As I am making changes to a database and cleaning things up, should I compact and repair before compiling or visa versa?

For 97? For 2000? For XP?

Hi
You can perform compact after u have complete your
modification and cleanup . It is advicable to compact the
mdb after u delete row's or table's as access doesnot
recover the space.

That I understand. What I would like to know is if I compact and repair before or after I compile the VBA code.
