From VB6 how would you compact and repair a DB? I know that I have to use DAO (or at least I think I do) but I still can't seem to make it work.

Look into the Jet Replication Objects (JRO). You will need to add a reference to the JRO in project-references.

That works. Be aware of the mistake with KillDoc which must take the path of the old DB as an argument.
