I have been using a W95 system which includes CommonDialog on many forms. I have moved the VB software to a new laptop which runs W2000. Now when I try to add a CommonDialog box to a form VB tells me that I do not have a valid license.

Any ideas?

Ran into the same problem. Try finding vb5ccein.exe on Microsoft site. It worked for me.

Thanks Parke I will follow up your lead.

I noticed after posting the original that on the old W95 machine that under References "MS CommonDialog Control 5.0" was listed but under W2000 it shows 6.0 not 5.0 so I guess this may also be connected

You replied to a query I had about a “license violation” message when using commondialog from VB5 with NT2k.

Thanks, I downloaded VB5CCEIN.EXE from an MSN web page, VB5CCEIN installed itself in Program Files\VB5CCE

I cannot find any overview help text. There were references on a couple of sites to a help file, which I cannot locate.

I would be grateful if you could give me a pointer as to what to do next. I have run vbcce.exe, which wants to create or modify a control, but there is no apparent change to the Project / References or Components and when I browse \VB5CCE I find nothing – On a new project, I can still see MS Common Dialog 6.0 where I was hoping to see 5.0 or maybe I am now allowed to use the V6 versions with a change of call to CommonDialog2 (?) … I don’t have a copy of VB6.

Thanks a lot. Derek Sully, Mikado Computing, London.
