Hi,

I was wondering what would be the command on a cisco switch 2500 series to find out the interface index # for the coresponding interfaces on the switch.

Thanks
SG

SG,

What are you asking?

On your IOS based switches you have the show ip interface brief and on your set based switches you have show port.

What are you looking for or trying to achieve?

There's a utility called 'getif', just download it from the Internet, it uses the snmp read community string on your router, this will give you a list of index numbers.

The SNMP monitoring will only give index# ( inbound interface memory errors )As you know each interface on the switch corespond to an index #. To troubleshoot on a particular interface I should be able to identify the interface with coresponding index #

Thanks for your help
