Command to determine physical Interface bandwidth

The interface bandwidth given in the show config / show interfaces commands is described as being an informational parameter only which could be modified to change the routing metric. If I need to obtain the interface's physical bandwidth, however, what is the best way to do that (Is there a solution using IOS commands, SNMP, or something else)? Another question is regarding the default bandwidth for an interface when you type in the "no bandwidth" command. Can this ever be different from the physical bandwidth?

Depending on the hardware and platform you can use the command 'show controller serial X'. If the hardware supports it you should see Transmit & Recieve Clock speeds listed.

i believer the default speed on serial interfaces is T1..
so as above if you don't have the T1 controller on the serial interface your out of luck.. the CSU would be doing all the T1 clocking and jsut delivering to you whatever its set for..
