I need the selected value from my combo box to change the criteria section in my many queries. so that when the user selects a value in the combo box the query is narrowed down and then places its answers in a report.

Saturn87,

I suspect you're probably referring to Access, but can you confirm: Access or Excel ?

In the query by example grid you can specify, as a criteria, the full reference to the combo box.

I always find it easiest to right-click in the criteria field and use the build option to browse through the database objects and find the combo box you are interested in (I cant remeber if you have to add '.value' to the end or not)

Hope this helps

Andy

Thanks for the help. That was just what I was looking for.

Saturn87,

Because your Tek-Tips profile shows you as being a NEW member, you're probably not yet aware of the "accepted practice" of showing appreciation for a contributor's help by "issuing a STAR". These "helpers" receive NO other form of payment or recognition, so it becomes somewhat important to properly recognize their contribution.

Issuing a STAR is done by simply clicking on the "Click here to mark this post as a helpful or expert post!" - located in the lower-left-corner of the contributor's posting.

As you've not "marked this thread", please allow me to issue a STAR to Andy Withers on your behalf. :)

But PLEASE, NO star for this "reminder", as I want to "earn" stars in the normal way. Thanks.

Regards, ...Dale Watson
