Is it at all possible to combine data sources in Crystal? What I want to do is combine an access field with a JD Edwards field and come up with some totals, grand totals, etc. I know I can probably do this but I just wanted to make sure I can.

Thank you.

Chris

You can do a subreport to get the other data, or you can link two tables on a common field. There are limitations, and the performance will be slow, but it can be done in many cases. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

Thank you. So as long as the data is common, I can link on those fields? Awesome!!!

Thanks.

The data types of the two fields have to be exactly the same. For instance string to VarChar may not work in all cases. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

Be certain to check your result sets for completeness. I have had problems with not getting all the data that I was expecting. Granted, their were some odd joins that I had to add via selection instead of join but, the data that I got back was not all there. This was linking two Sybase databases on different servers. When I replicated the data I needed as a view/proxy table combo in one database, everything worked fine.

Can you link or import your JDE table into Access?
