protocol B is NI2. technically, 5ESS is a bit ambiguous as it refers to a CO type rather than an ISDN protocol (not the same thing). Most equate 5ess to AT&T, i.e. AT&T CUSTOM rather than NI2.
Full details are:
MV Protocol Central Office Protocol Central Office
A AT&T Custom Lucent 4ESS (LD only)
Lucent 5ESS (Lcl & LD)
MCI using N449 Nortel DMS w/ N449*
MCI using N559 Nortel DMS w/ N559*
AT&T Standard DEC 600**
B National ISDN 2 (NI-2) Lucent 5ESS (Local)
Nortel DMS (Local)
Most Vendors (Local)
C Nortel Custom Nortel DMS (Lcl & LD)
D National ISDN 98 (NI-98) Lucent 5ESS (Local)
i guess maybe the correct 1st response would be to go back to the LEC and ask them what protocol they are running as 5ESS is not a protocol however a 5ESS switch does support protocols:
A - AT&T custom
B - NI2
D - NI98
then we could also get into a whole thing about other manufacturers "emulating" a 5ESS switch which still doesn't answer the protocol type....lol
