Column width max

Hi i have a table that i want to store text in
What is the maximum Lenght of the column can be.

I can not find anywhere on the interent where it says there is a max.

Text sizze max is 2,147,483,647 bytes

sorry also meant to mention ntext is half that, and image data type is also 2,147,483,647 bytes
(or 2^31 -1)

So the amount in bytes ...would be what in Length.

Typically 1 character per byte unless the storage uses double-byte characters - but if you use the ASCII character set or similiar then it will be 1 byte per character.
