In the column heading of my cross tab report, I have specified the database field Bal_data.Period. I want the report sorted by periods 1 through 12. But when I attempt to use the Group Options and Customize Group Name fields, anything I select produces a character (a little square box, 1 character width) instead of any data.

Any suggestions? The same options work just fine on the rows.

What happens if you just leave the column field set to period in Ascending order. Doesn't that do what you want? Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

I need the period shown as part of a text title, eg. "As at period" + Period. Leaving it just as the database field showing the period number works fine with no Group Options, but when I use the Group Options and select the same field, I get that character.

I would try writing the formula as a formula field, and then using that as the column field in the Cross-tab. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting
