I've tried posting this in the Acrobat Forum to avail; hopefully someone here can help.

I am using Quark 5.(PC version) When I make a .pdf file using Acrobat Distiller, the colours of the photographs and text become very washed out and pale. I read somewhere that Quark 4.x had problems with colour matching and that Quark 5 had corrected it.

I am having to save this as a .pdf as the Printer only has Macs and I'm well aware of the problems with Font exhanges. Also, the customer insists on using this particular Printer. (I think he's his brother!)

Any light that may be shed on this problem will be gratefully received.

What color management do you have employed? Are the placed photos in RGB or CMYK color modes?

Thanks for that. All photos were in RGB (!) I was under the impression that when setting the generic printer to CMYK in the Acrobat settings, that it would have converted the photos automatically. Apparently not! I have now converted them all to CMYK and re-imported them into Quark and they certainly have a much richer and brighter look to them when displayed as a PDF.

I'm a lot more confident that this will now print up a lot better; I'll send this to the Printer and see what he produces.
