I am working in forms and want to colour an individual cell to let me know that the number in that cell are not final.

Hi
In the form on current, try this,
If Me![BALANCES] = 0 Then
Me![DETAILS].BackColor = 255
Me![BALANCES].BackColor = 255
Else
Me![DETAILS].BackColor = 64000
Me![BALANCES].BackColor = 64000
End If
replace the field names with yours and change the if statement to what you wish to check for.
