We use quark 5~(mac) to output pdf's created from pc dtp programs, it works pretty well most of the time.
But! The postscript files output from quark look really washed out? Clipart(placed into the original document) looks nice and bright, but the rest of the job is really pale? This has happened from MS Publisher and MS Word so far, and I just can't figure out why!

Alex Sigs are boring...

You are probably using RGB WMF clipart. Quark & PDF are getting confused over the color model. Your graphics intended for print should be CMYK.

Maybe this will help?
When printing a postscript file in Quark, in the "print" box, click the "output" tab and select composit RGB. This will give you a better looking PDF for the client but don't forget to switch back to CMYK if the PDF file is going to the printer.
