When running the timeline the view in the program window and also on separate monitor has a serious colour distortion (not pixelation). Ranging from excessive blue, yellow and mix of both, like watching thru a cellophane sweet wrapper is the nearest description I can give! Any ideas of how to cure this, please.

This is an odd one.. Even if your reference window was draft quality it shouldn't do that.. Can you verify your clips in Media Player that they play correctly?

If so, I would recommend you update your video card drivers as PPRO by default uses DirectX for it's video playback in the Reference and Source monitors..
