I am brand new on InDesign. Is it possible to print color separations with a printer that doesn't support Postscript? I work for a printer who needs 2 color separations to make films. He previously used Pagemaker 6.5 which had this function, but I can only see separation printing in InDesign if you have a postscript printer. Any info will be greatly appreciated!!

I am assuming you need this option so that you can proof before you send to a professional printer that uses PostScript... (correct me if I am wrong)

Try printing to a PostScript file and then distill to a PDF.

Jimoblak, how about simply exporting the ID document to PDF? What's the difference?

I did not realize that you could do seps as a PDF 'Export'. You can 'Print' to Acrobat Distiller to create a PDF with seps.

Based on previous problems with PageMaker, I had made it a practice to create a PostScript file to distill later. After using ID long enough, I can now trust it to do a competent direct Print to Distiller. I've only run into 2 jobs that required the interim PostScript file.
