color separations on illustrator 10..pls help!

hey guys...im very new to illustrator and really dont know much about it yet..
i have a mac without a printer and when i click on file, the
separation setup option can't be clicked on...the same happens when i choose print then illustrator 10, the separation setup can't be clicked! please help.. and also please provide some help

You need to add a 'virtual' postscript printer to your system (i.e. just the driver). There are drivers at Adobe.com - look for the Adobe PS generic driver.
