Color Burn w/ Bezel on a text object

Hello all,

This issue has been bugging me the last few days. Client wants a chiseled steal look.
I set up an example in photoshop and am trying to render it into indesign. The issue comes up when I apply the color burn to the text layer. It seems to ignore the fact that I also have bezel and emboss applied and just burns the flat color. I will attach a screengrab showing the difference between Photoshop and InDesign

This is all in CS3.

So what are your Bevel and Emboss Settings set to, you're only showing us the Transparency Settings.

...i take it your text color is the same color as it is in photoshop?

..but in any case, it is difficult to get an 'exact' match between the two, because the settings aren't completely transposable, the depth setting for example...

...this is also true of illustrator with effects between photoshop, they behave in very slightly different ways...

...indesign text effects behave more as if you were to import a text effect psd file with full transparency...

...do a test with just the text with the effect in photoshop, turn to color burn in indesign, both the indesign effect and photoshop will look a closer match...

...the conclusion however is that photoshop does a better job, particularly with the highlight...

...adobe are probably keeping some enhancements for version 6 in the cupboard i reckon...

...personally i try to keep all fancy effects in photoshop as much as i can, import as psd or .ai, and because it is editable formats in isn't too much of a pain to launch it in the creator application to adjust...

What would happen if you made your background in photoshop GrayScale, rather than RGB, then import that to InDesign and then Try your settings.
