when attempting to re-start coldfusion in NT services it returns error code 2140.

Any ideas? Kathryn

Hey Kathryn,

If a reboot doesn't fix it, I would check to see if CF is set to run under a specific account. Assuming you're on NT, just go to Control Panel->Services, click on the CF service and click the "Startup" button near the bottom. If the "Log On As" section is set to "System Account", un-check the "Allow service..." setting and see if that makes a difference as this setting isn't needed. If it's set to "This Account", verify the password hasn't changed and re-type the password to verify that CF is using the correct account/password combination.

If that's not it, let me know but that's the first place I'd look if the problem persists after a reboot.

Thanks so much for the reply. The problem was that SOMEONE, who for some reason hasn't been fired yet and who has no authorization to do so, managed to change the service account setting. We have reset it to the proper value and we are up and running again.

Thanks again! Kathryn

Hehe, glad to help. Nothing like having children running around in the workplace....
