coldfusion studio freezing

I seem to randomly have this problem of CF studio 5 freezing up on me. Where it hangs when saving pages via RDS. I usually have to force quite the app, start it up again and it will work for awhile but then it ends up doing this again.

I've never been able to get RDS to work reliably in Studio/HomeSite. Some collegues swear by it... I simply swear at it. I believe there was a patch or two for v.5... before they discontinued it. Are you all up-to-date? Hope it helps,

CF Studio is a fine app - but I have always had problems with RDs and CodeSweep and Projects...

So I usually end up using alternative methods to check out the code and maintain the sites...

I dont have any updates on this and I dont see any on the Macromedia site. What other types of apps are good to use that woudl replace studio but offer rds connections?

I've always used RDS and never had a problem.

If something does cause a freeze, usually if you wait long enough itwill stop trying to save and throw you an error ... then you should go back into your RDS listings and see if you can connect to the server again ... usually it is the receiving server causing the problem - usually firewall related.

If you cannot reconnect to the server it may freeze up again, but eventually it will release and throw an error. At this point I would save the file to my own hard drive to ensure the new code is saved and close studio ... reopen it and then re-connect and reload the local file - save to the server using Save As.

I have only had this happen twice with Studio 4.5, but never with 5. It usually looks like the RDS connection times out sending the file, of which you can do nothing until it does.
