I just wiped my machine and did a clean install of Win2000 Advanced Server with all updates. After installing ColdFusion 5 Studio, it ran fine. After installing CF Server, the problems began. The following services for ColdFusion are not starting:

Cold Fusion Application Server
ColdFusion Executive
ColdFusion RDS

Now when I go to start CF Studio, it won't start up. Are there any known service conflicts that could be causing this? Or did I forget to do something? I would appreciate any ideas/solutions.

Thanks, Jim

Just a shot in the dark here.

One problem I've had with Windows2000 setup is something called "Media Sense". If you don't have a network cable plugged into your network adapter, the TCP/IP stack does not initialize and no services dependent on it (such as IIS or ColdFusion) will start up. There is no visible error when this happens.

If you think this might be the cause of your problem, try starting up the computer with the network cable attached. I can help you with workarounds if this turns out to be the problem and starting with the network cable attached is not feasible.

Thanks a lot. That seemed to be it. I had a network card disabled, and as soon as I enabled it, everything started up fine.
