Is anyone having issues where customer is using pri's but all local calls go out on copper ground start trunks. When they use the copper trunks there is major echoing on user end to the point they have to hang up the call, but the person they have called does not hear any problems. This is a 8700 with about 1000 ip phones running on it, there are very few digital phones and at this time I don't know if they have any issues.

Is sounds like their route patterns are still sending outgoing calls through their copper trunks and the copper trunks has a lot of noise.

Mike,

If You put a single line on the actual trunks there is no noise. The noise is only when calling out using the pbx.

Is the PRI group that has been installed a 2 way group? If so the route patterns still have to be changed to route outbound calls over this group. I am guessing that you are getting right on the copper trunk and grounding it out to get your dial tone. Is that trunk the one that is giving you the hum? Is it only 1 trunk out of this group that is giving you problems or the whole group? It could be the CO pack, but normally you would have 1 port go bad and not the entire pack. It still sounds like bad cable problems. If you can seize the bad trunk using your phone, (verify button, trunk group and trunk number), you may narrow this down.

You can make a ground start call at the demark with the switch pulled off and there is no echo. Sounds like the
problem is in the switch not with telco

so is it with every local outbound call? have you used a trunk id button on some of the phones to narrow down the trunks in question?
