Can someone please post directions on how to change a ACD site link IP address in CMS? I did it awhile back and can not find my notes to save my life.

If set up correctly just edit the hosts file.

Do you have any notes on how that is done??

vi /etc/hosts

Basic vi commands
chage mode: esc
insert mode: i
delete char: x
delete line: dd
end editing: :
end wo saving: q!
end w saving: wq
end w saving even if read only: wq!

the hosts file is ready only. so when done editing use wq! otherwise you will have to use chmod 777 to make the file read/write, then a chmod 444 to make it read only when done.

No problem. Let me know if you need more details on VI, if you are not used to it. The key is to remember to switch modes using Esc.

There was a bit more to it for me.........quite a bit.

What is the trick getting the file in to edit write mode? Do I need to turn data collection off first? I am able to edit but it will not save what is the trick.

Well I prefer to leave it in read only as noted above then just end with "wq!"

If you wish to put it into read/write instead you can do "chmod 777 hosts" then do "vi hosts" edit the file then exit with "wq" once done make sure to make the file read only again by doing "chmod 444 hosts"

Thank you CBB I did it.

Once the file has been changed dose the CMS server need to be rebooted for the new changes to take effect?

No
If you can't ping it you may need to setup a static route.

You can view your routes by doing "cat /etc/rc2.d/s99route" "netstat -r" will also show you what is in you routing table. It has been a while since I have done this but I believe you change it in the s99route then reboot for it to be loaded into memory. Or you can change it in the s99route as well as using "route add" command to add into memory.
I think there is another thread about it.

For some reason the site is not linking up. Data collection is on and everything else looks normal. The voice mail link that talks to the same clan is happy and working.

Is there a link address in the PBX that needs to be changed??

No a far end site completely stand alone. I have the entire sites IP range changed out. Intuity/IP trunking /IP phones all up and working but no CMS link. I checked the name and address in the CMS host file and it all looks correct.

You should have a route that tells CMS triffic going to the CLAN to go out the interface that the CLAN is talking to. Sorry I can't be of more help, I don't do it very often and I normally have to feel my way through it.

CBB,
Can you tell how to edit the the system setup file. I guess you need to change the IP address there also as well as the host file.
