Whilst a .cmdButton will support a .Caption and .Picture simultaneously, is it possible to arrange them side by side as opposed to on top of each other?

From the VFP Help File:
It can contain both graphics and text. When the button contains both, the text is always centered at the bottom of the button.
FWIW, you could try superimposing a label on the left half of the command button and an image control over the right half. Have their respective click events call the command button's click event.
