Is it possible to run a program from a cmd prompt (as a batch) without having the Cmd Shell window open?

spaulding,
if i read your question correct, yes and maybe sometimes no (does not seem to work for my ftp scripts but does for my copy scripts).
put
Code:
@ECHO OFF
as the first line of your *.bat file.

well, not exactly. I've got a program which runs on login (XP PRO on W2K Network)in a cmd prompt window and modifies the windows wallpaper to show the logged in user name (we're a school district and would like to make sure we know who's really logged in). The program works fine, but while it's executing, the cmd prompt window is open. The kids have figured out they can stop the file from executing if they just close the window. What I'd like to have happen, is the program runs without opening the window.

spaulding,
so your .bat file is just calling an .exe?
regards,
longhair
